Buy Nothing Day
A buy nothing day is when you save your money for the things that you NEED. This is when you try to test yourself in seeing if you can resist buying things you WANT. Although it may be hard to save your money, it will definitely help you in the long run. Saving $100 instead of spending it on a pair of shoes or clothing can be put aside for something that you may need in the future. I am a good example of having a hard time saving money. I tend to buy food almost everyday after school and by duing that, I'm broke by Friday. What I do now is bring food from home instead of buying food from outside. Now I still have the same amount of money from what I started with at the end of the week. "Buy Nothing Day" was founded by Vancouver artist Ted Dave and subsequently by Adbusters Magazine , based in Canada. They invented this to examine the issue of over-consumption. They try to convince others to not shop and spend loads of money on big shopping days. Like Black Friday and the days before Christmas where there are many sales going on. People who are apart of this organization try to get others to join by asking shoppers "what would Jesus do?" Their main goal is to have as much people as possible to not shop on November 26th of this year. They do not want to prevent people from shopping only on the holidays, but from all the temptations of our five-planet lifestyles.
